올 해의 첫 AI 걸그룹이 1월 25일에 데뷔하였다. 메타버스 엔터테인먼트 아래 "Make new wave" 라는 뜻으로 MAVE: 라는 4인조 걸그룹이 데뷔한 것이다. 멤버들은 시우, 제나, 마티, 그리고 타이라 로, 다 AI지만 다른 케이팝 걸그룹과 같이 리더, 보컬, 댄서, 래퍼와 같은 역할들을 잘 나누어 담당하고 있다. 메이브의 첫 싱글 앨범 ‘PANDORA'S BOX’의 타이틀 곡 'PANDORA'의 뮤직비디오는 나온지 한 달도 되지않아 1,600만이 넘는 유튜브 조회수를 남기고, 틱톡에서도 많이 사용되는 곡이며 댄스커버도 많이 된다. 생각보다 많은 관심과 사랑을 받고 있기에 메이브에도 많은 관심이 쏠리고 있다.
하지만 메이브의 멤버들과 이런 컨셉, 즉 케이팝 걸그룹이라고 하는 다 AI로만 구성된 가짜 캐릭터들이 사람들의 의견을 가른다. AI 캐릭터들과 나오는 결과물, 품질, 또는 우리 케이팝의 미래도 생각하는 대중의 여러가지 생각들이 나오는 것이다. AI를 보며 "진짜 같다", "기술이 대단하다", "머리카락과 옷 주름까지 디테일이 엄청나다" 등 긍정적인 반응을 보이는가 하면, "기괴하다", "춤이 어색하다", "할 수 있는 표정과 제스처가 별로 없다" 등 역시 아직 AI는 사람을 따라오지 못한다는 반응들도 보이고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 "콘서트는 어떻게 하냐", "케이팝 팬들은 아이돌의 성격과 교감할수 있는 사람으로서 좋아하는거다", "어떻게 캐릭터를 덕질하냐", "노래도 좋고 안무도 좋은데 진짜 사람이었으면 얼마나 더 좋았을까", "만약 내가 아이돌인데 AI그룹이 더 잘나간다고 생각해봐라" 등 의견이 나오는 반면 "논란 없을 아이돌이다", "각자 캐릭터 뒤에 아이돌들이 덜 힘들것이다", "연예인으로 수많은 논란에 휩싸이거나 비난 받지 않을것이다", "얼굴도 안알려지고 일하는게 좋지 않겠냐" 라며 반대되는 의견도 분분하다. 여러분의 생각은 어떠한가? 과연 이렇게 AI로만 구성된 그룹이 점점 생겨나는게 좋은걸까?
The new virtual girl group MAVE: with AI technology and netizens’ opinions and thoughts

The first AI girl group of this year debuted on January 25th. Under Metaverse Entertainment, a 4-member girl group with the name MAVE:, meaning "Make new wave" debuted. The members are Siu, Zena, Marty, and Tyra, all AI, but are well divided into roles such as leader, vocalist, dancer, and rapper just like any other K-pop girl groups. The music video for 'PANDORA', the title track of MAVE:'s first single album ‘PANDORA'S BOX’, had more than 16 million views on YouTube not even a month after it was released. The song PANDORA is receiving more love and attention than expected, which got a lot of people interested in MAVE:, the girl group itself.
However, the members of MAVE: and this concept- the fake characters that are all made up of AI, called as a K-pop girl group, divide people's opinions. The AI characters and the quality, the results, and the future of the K-pop industry were thought of by the public. Looking at the AI, many showed positive reactions such as "It looks so realistic", "The technology is amazing", and "The detail from the hair to the wrinkles of the clothes is amazing", along with many negative reactions such as “It’s creepy”, “The dancing is really awkward”, and “There are not many gestures and facial expressions the AI can do".. saying how AI still can't beat humans yet. Adding on, some say, "How would they do concerts", "K-pop fans like their idols for their personalities and as people they can interact with", "How could I be a fan of just fake characters", "The song and the choreography is so good, but it would’ve been much better been if they were real people", "Imagine being an idol and seeing that the AI groups are more popular". However there are many with opposite opinions such as "It’s an idol without controversy", "Idols behind the characters will be less overworked", "They wouldn't be involved in controversies or criticism like other celebrities”, “Wouldn’t it be good to not have your face known to public and just work behind the scenes?” etc.
Opinions are divided, and so what do you think? Is it good that there are more Kpop groups composed of only AI like this?
