그룹 ‘빅뱅’ 멤버 겸 솔로가수 지드래곤이 정규 3집 '위버멘쉬’로 컴백했다. 지드래곤의 컴백은 지난해 2024, 10월 ‘파워’, 태양, 대성과의 협업곡 ‘홈 스윗 홈' 등으로 활약한 이후 3개월 만이다. 또한 2013년 9월 '쿠데타' 이후 11년 5개월 만의 정규 컴백이기도 하다. 새 앨범 'Ubermensch'는 철학자 니체가 정의한 '초인'을 뜻하는 앨범명과 함께, 한층 더 강렬하고 단단한 지드래곤의 음악 면모를 보여주는 작품이다.

지난 3월 3일 지드래곤의 공식 유튜브 채널을 통해 타이틀곡 ‘투 배드’의 오피셜 퍼포먼스 영상이 게재됐다. 공개된 영상 속 지드래곤은 패셔니스타다운 착장으로 이목을 끌었다. 음악적 돌풍과 더불어, 그의 패션, 다양한 연예프로그램 활동 (MBC 굿데이, 유튜브 방송 등), 디지털 미디어 아트 전시 (서울 여의도, 3월 9-19일)들도 큰 화제다. 특히 디지털 미디어 아트 전시는 인공지능, 리얼타임 홀로그램, 증강현실, 차세대 3D 솔루션인 언리얼 엔진으로 만든 CG 등 최신 기술력을 기반으로 꾸며진다. 이것은 지난해 카이스트 기계공학과 초빙교수로 임명된 지드래곤이 기술에 대해 갖는 관심도를 확인할 수 있는 자리이기도 하다.

한편, 지드래곤은 '위버멘쉬'로 실시간, 일간 차트에 이어 주간 차트까지 퍼펙트 올킬을 달성했다. 특히 '투 배드'는 멜론, 지니, 벅스 등 주요 국내 음원사이트의 주간 차트(2월 24일-3월 2일) 1위에 오르는 저력을 보였다. 그뿐만 아니라 멜론 주간 차트 기준 '홈 스위트 홈' 3위, '테이크 미' 12위, '파워’ 14위, '드라마' 16위를 비롯해 전곡을 차트인 시키며 그의 대중적인 인기를 실감케 했다. 현재 발매 8일차인 ‘투 배드’의 유튜브 조회수는 삼천만을 넘어섰다.

On February 25, 2025, G-DRAGON, a solo artist and a member of the group BIGBANG, released a new studio album titled ‘Übermensch.” This album precedes the soloist’s active releases with the ‘POWER’ comeback in October of 2024 and his ‘HOME SWEET HOME’ single with TAEYANG and DAESUNG three months prior. Furthermore, it is his first studio comeback since eleven years and five months ago, with the album ‘Coup d’Etat’ in September 2013. The new album, ‘Übermensch,’ a term coined by the philosopher Nietzsche meaning ‘superman,’ provides a step further in showcasing G-DRAGON’s powerful and highly-regarded musicality.

An official performance video of the album’s title track ‘TOO BAD’ was posted on March 3rd on G-DRAGON’s official YouTube channel. Within the released video, his fashionista-like attire garnered much attention. Not only was the comback a musical sensation but also gained traction for G-DRAGON’s fashion, various variety program appearances (i.e MBC Good Day, Youtube broadcasts, etc.), as well as the digital media art exhibition of the new album (March 9 through March 19) in Yeouido, Seoul. The digital media art exhibition in particular was packed with technical skills by using AI, real-time holograms, augmented reality, and the next-generation 3D solution CG made by Unreal Engine. This exhibition also represented G-DRAGON's interest in technology, who previously served as a visiting professor at KAIST’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.

G-DRAGON achieved a perfect “all-kill” in real-time on the daily and weekly charts with ‘Übermensch.’ Specifically, the title track ‘TOO BAD’ rose to the weekly number one spot on national music charts sites, like Melon, Genie, and Bugs, for the week of February 24th through March 2nd. Moreover, many of his other songs ranked on the charts, such as ‘HOME SWEET HOME,’ which ranked third, ‘TAKE ME’ in the 12th, ‘POWER’ in the 14th, and ‘DRAMA’ taking the 16th spot, proving his overall popularity. Currently, the music video for ‘TOO BAD’ holds over 40 million views on YouTube.
