골드 카드의 가격에 대해서는 대부분이 과하게 비싸거나 적당하다고 했지만, 일부에서는 미국 영주권은 그만큼의 가치가 있다고 했다. 기타 의견으로는 영주권을 500만 달러에 팔고 싶다는 농담 섞인 의견과 함께, “골드 카드 비자 소지자는 공항에서 VIP 전용 통로를 이용하게 하면 재미있을 것 같다”는 독특한 제안도 나왔다.

He described the Gold Card visa as a program designed for the "wealthy and successful" and claimed it would bring additional prosperity to the U.S. To see the public opinion on this proposal, a survey was conducted among parents of students at Korean School of New England.

According to the survey, about 43% of respondents were neutral about the Gold Card proposal. Some viewed it negatively for potential immigrant investors but saw it as good news for the wealthy, while others believed its impact would depend on each individual’s situation. About 38% of respondents opposed the proposal, citing economic concerns that it would harm low-income individuals and that the high price tag reflected a materialistic mindset that prioritized money above all else. Others in opposition pointed out that it could make obtaining permanent residency more difficult for the general public and restrict the immigration of skilled individuals who could contribute academically. But the supporters of the proposal argued that it would reduce overall immigration to the U.S.

Additionally, 57% of respondents believed that the Gold Card would not have a significant impact, mainly because it would not affect existing green card holders or the U.S. citizens. About 33% opposed it, arguing that it would create confusion and make it harder for ordinary people to immigrate to the U.S. Meanwhile, around 10% supported the proposal, believing that it could help pay off U.S. debt, stabilize the economy, and improve public safety.

Regarding the $5 million price tag, most respondents found it excessively expensive. However, some found it reasonable, while others believed that the U.S. permanent residency was worth the cost. Other opinions included a joking remark about selling their green cards for $5 million and a unique idea that Gold Card visa holders should be allowed to use VIP airport lanes.

Overall, the survey results showed that opinions among the parents at the school were diverse, but there was a general consensus that the Gold Card visa would not be an equally accessible policy for everyone. Some saw potential economic benefits, while others worried about its negative impact on low-income individuals and skilled immigrants seeking to settle in the U.S. These findings highlight that the Gold Card visa program is a complex issue that requires in-depth discussions from multiple perspectives.
