한반도 시각 2022년 11월 2일 북한이 한국을 향해 23발의 미사일을 발사했다. 이 미사일들은 한국 국경 가까이 떨어졌고, 북한이 핵무기를 사용할 것이라고 위협했던 지점의 앞뒤로 대포가 발사되었다. 실제로 북한이 쏜 미사일 중 1발은 한국 속초시에서 60km도 채 떨어지지 않은 곳에 낙하했는데, 이는 북한 미사일이 착륙한 것 중 한국에 가장 근접한 것이다.
그렇다면 북한이 다시 한국을 향해 미사일을 발사하기 시작한 이유는 무엇일까?
북한이 이렇게 미사일을 발사한 이유는 한미연합훈련(한미연합훈련: 한국과 미국이 한반도에 발발가능한 위험 상황을 전제하고 전쟁 억제를 목적으로 하는 양국 연합훈련의 통칭)을 중단하라고 경고하기 위함으로 추측된다. 김정은 조선노동당 총비서 겸 국무위원장은 이런 연합훈련을 적대행위로 보고 미사일 위협으로 종식시키려는 시도를 한 것이다. 이에 대해 미 국방부는 김정은이 지속적으로 공격을 가하면 “김정은 체제의 종말”을 초래할 것이라고 경고했다.
이번 미사일 발사 공격으로 인해 울릉도 주민들은 안전을 위해 지하 대피소로 대피를 해야 했으며, 1953년 한국 전쟁 이후 처음으로 미사일이 남북한 국경선을 넘었기 때문에 한국과 북한의 관계와 상황에 대한 세계의 관심이 높아졌다.
그러나 북한의 미사일 발사는 한국을 향한 모의 핵공격이라고 볼 수 있으므로 전쟁이 다시금 시작되지 않도록 북한의 또 다른 공격에 대한 대비를 해야 한다.

On November 2, 2022, North Korea fired 23 missiles to South Korea. These missiles landed close to the South Korean border, causing a back and forth of military artillery being fired to the point where North Korea threatened to use nuclear weapons. In fact, one of the missiles shot by North Korea landed less than 60km away from the city of Sokcho, South Korea, which is the closest a North Korean missile has ever landed.
What caused North Korea to start firing missiles again?
The reason for firing all of these missiles is to warn the U.S. and South Korean armies to discontinue their joint military drills (joint military drill: several different armed forces of the same nation training together). Kim Jong Un sees these joint military drills as hostile acts and attempts to put an end to them with these missile threats. In response to Kim Jong Un, the Pentagon warned that if Kim Jong Un made any advancements towards any attack, it would result in “the end of the Kim Jong Un regime.”

Although for now we may be safe, this situation is something that should not be overlooked as it could be the start of a war.
