T1은 Top Esports (TES)와의 8강 경기에서 압도적인 3-0 점수로 준결승에 진출하여 팬들의 기대를 끌어모았고, 준결승에서는 전통적인 라이벌 한국팀 Generation Gaming(Gen.G)를 상대로 승부를 펼쳤다. 젠지가 T1을 상대로 국내전 10연승이라는 기록을 가지고 있었기에 많은 T1 팬들이 이 경기를 접전으로 예상하였지만 과거부터 국제전에서 항상 엄청난 기량을 보여준 T1이였기에 놀라운 경기력으로 승리를 거머쥔 후 롤드컵 결승전이 열리는 런던으로 향했다.

Particularly, Faker (Lee Sanghyuk), considered as the current League of Legends idol, recorded his fifth world championship win, breaking the record for the most ever wins by a single player.
League of Legends (LoL) is the representative esports game played by tens of millions of people worldwide. The game is more than just a simple battle: it requires teamwork and tactics, with two teams being assigned five players that engage in a strategic battle to be the first to destroy the opposing team’s base. Held every year, the League of Legends World Championship (typically abbreviated as Worlds) is a global event that is considered the biggest tournament, where every country’s best teams gather to compete for the top spot.
This year, T1’s journey was a series of challenges and growth. Although they struggled through difficulties in the League of Legends Champions Korea’s (LCK) qualifiers, advancing to Worlds as the lowest seed of 4, they were able to rise to the quarterfinals of Worlds after going head-to-head with many teams of varying countries in the Swiss stage, and having three wins and one loss in total.
After an overwhelming 3-0 win against Top Esports (TES) in the quarterfinals, T1 garnered the support of fans and advanced to the semifinals, where they would compete against their longtime rival: the Korean team Generation Gaming (Gen.G). Many T1 fans expected there to be a close match given that Gen. G had 10 consecutive domestic wins against T1. Nevertheless, the team is known for showing great skill in international competitions, and so after winning with an astonishing performance, they head to London for the finals of the championship.
When facing off against the Chinese team Bilibili Gaming (BLG) in the finals, the team worried many fans around the world after being behind 1-2. Despite this, the player Faker pulled off various performances led the team to a comeback victory after this suspenseful situation. During this time, assistant teacher Choi Sion, who viewed the tournament through a live broadcast, stated, “Faker is a legendary player who I respect, and T1’s plays prove
that esports is more than just simple games, and can really move the hearts of the people.” Additionally, assistant teacher Lee Eugene adds, “I am always stunned to see Faker, who, despite being the oldest player, uses the finest skills in the game that makes fans’ hands sweat.”
T1 gave rise to many new records with this win. The team’s Faker set the record for amassing 500 kills in the World Championships alone, and secured the largest championship title as a single player.
